Eight-eight percent of readers could recall a dream of the future that remained unfulfilled and a whopping 33 percent could recall a dream that had come true. Most importantly, as the figure below demonstrates, dreams that readers reported had come true tended to be much older (the white bars) than dreams that had not (the black bars).
We believe this suggests that people have countless dreams that do not come true – indeed, nearly everyone could remember such dreams – but many people also have one dream, often from many years ago, that they believe came true. Rather than weight these two facts equally (“I have millions of dreams and only one came true – I wonder if that’s really because dreams come true or because if you have a million thoughts some of them are bound to map onto reality”), people seem to take evidence of one dream coming true as evidence that dreams generally come true (“That dream I had about failing the test in fourth grade came true because I did fail that test; therefore dreams come true”).

I believe that dreams can come true. If really want something to happen in life and you keep dreaming of it then and striving for it, you can achieve it. I know that this is true because it has happened to me several times.
I have had numerous dreams come true. I can tell upon wakening which ones really mean something. Sometimes, it takes me several days of pondering to figure out a meaning and then there are those that I just instantly understand. However, I must add that I am a Christian and during the course of the pondering, there is praying for understanding. Without going on and on, oh, the dreams that have come true. Since I am kind of a rebel, I also think God gives me dreams as a warning sometimes. There was one dream that involved a move to a place that I never, ever would have desired to move to, but less than a year later, there we were. Yes, good came from it, but if I hadn’t had that dream, feeling that God had a plan for that time in our lives, I would have gone nuts.

I didn’t know what to say, but I felt horrible. I felt horrible not only because of the death of this precious little girl but I also felt that someone had given me a warning and I ignored it. I immediately told my mother, who said that I couldn’t have known my dream would come true. But the child in the dream was exactly the child that died, and she was lying on the pool tarp the same way she was found as she was in my dream as well.
For the most part, I believe dreams are a mental summation of what we experience and the subconscious mind sorting out these experiences and finding a place to put them in our brains. However, there are times when I’ve had extremely lucid dreams, and a few of them actually did come true.
So, your car broke down after you dreamed it would. Was the car changing colors and bending around like Gumby, the way it was in the dream? Did that part come true too?

I had one great dream in my life. At that time, I was a young opera singer married to an annoying man. The dream involved Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni. I was seeing a psychoanalyst and I thought that it was the most clear-cut representation of ambivalence regarding marital fidelity versus fooling around. The dream was prophetic because I eventually chose fooling around. I haven’t had an equally significant dream since. Mine are in color; I never think about them the next day.
I think the dreams come true question is interpreted as not exactly that, rather as do you think there is truth in dreams? In the sense that they reveal truths about your life, not necessarily future events that will happen.
